James Ridge • Director of Engineering

Jim Ridge possesses more than 30 years of facility operations, energy management, facilities condition assessments and building commissioning experience for educational, healthcare, and complex research institutions. Within Aramark’s Engineering and Asset Solutions, Jim has an overall national leadership position bringing engineering solutions to our clients in the educational intuitions, healthcare, corrections and business and industry marketplaces. He also supports numerous training programs and supports the Safety Awareness Program for Aramark’s Engineering and Asset Solutions team which consists of more than 100 technical professionals.

In leading Aramark Engineering and Asset Solutions business development and facilities engagement support efforts, Jim has been instrumental in educating, engaging and implementing the various engineering related services offer by Engineering and Asset Solutions highlighting the features, advantages and benefits of our specialized engineering support services, such as energy management, building commissioning and facilities condition assessments to drive value for our clients. Professional knowledge of facilities management initiatives including energy management, building systems commissioning, utility systems planning and operation, water conservation and LEED sustainable building design has been his focus. His engineering insights have influenced facility operations and added value at numerous K-12, Higher Education, Healthcare and Business and Industry clients nationwide.

Jim has led Aramark’s energy management services in the development and implementation of energy management programs for a wide range of clients including large universities, colleges, K-12 schools, healthcare, business and industry and cultural institutions. He has assisted clients with reducing energy cost and consumption, improving system operation, educating clients to the advantages of power and natural gas deregulation, and training operating staffs. Mr. Ridge has led energy services for such clients as Babson College, Berklee College of Music, Baylor University, Oberlin College, Union Theological Seminary, Barnard College, Rockefeller University, The Bolles School, New York State Office of Mental Health, Maine General Hospital, Heywood Hospital, Florida State Hospital and Xerox, as well as many others.

He has led Aramark’s facilities condition assessment services in the development and implementation of capital re-investment programs for a wide range of clients including large universities, colleges, healthcare, business and industry, K-12 schools, and cultural institutions. He has assisted clients by developing campus capital re-investment programs to reduce deferred maintenance, improve system operation, address regulatory changes while involving and training campus operating staffs. Mr. Ridge has led facilities condition assessment services for such clients as Harvard University, Southern Methodist University, Vanguard University, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Southwest Assemblies of God University, Park University, Louisiana College, Northwest Nazarene University, College of St. Rose and Morton Hospital as well as many others.

In leading Aramark’s building commissioning services, Jim was responsible for commissioning quality assurance, planning and execution of Aramark’s commissioning engagements. Mr. Ridge has direct management of commissioning projects totaling over 3.2 million GSF with a constructed value more than $1.15 billion. Mr. Ridge has assisted numerous institutions, including colleges, research universities, K-12 schools and healthcare facilities with ensuring newly constructed buildings meet expected environmental performance and operating cost criteria.

In addition to his energy management, facilities condition assessment and building commissioning experience Jim also has significant experience in utility systems planning and operation, engineering design review, operations and maintenance training, infrastructure assessment, financial analysis, as well as expertise in specific areas such as diagnosing and troubleshooting of: boiler plants, chilled water systems, laboratory systems, HVAC systems and controls, and energy management control systems. He also has extensive experience in testing and balancing of water and air systems, hands-on performance testing, writing of performance test procedures and commissioning plans, as well as operations and maintenance training.
